Alja Senica enjoyed the biggest week of her young career by claiming her first professional singles title at the ITF W15 Rogaska Slatina Kozmetika Afrodita Open. The 18-year-old Slovenian delighted the home crowd by defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Sara Mikaca 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in a thrilling three-set final.

Seeded No. 3, Senica produced a series of impressive performances throughout the week to reach her maiden professional final. She booked her place in the championship match with a straight-sets victory over Romania’s Stefania Bojica before overcoming fourth seed Mikaca in a hard-fought contest lasting three sets.

After taking the opening set 6-4, Senica saw Mikaca level the match by winning the second set 7-5. The Slovenian regrouped in the decider, raising her level at the crucial moments to seal a 6-3 victory and celebrate the first World Tennis Tour singles title of her career in front of her home fans.

“I feel amazing. I played really well all week and fought for every single point,” Senica said after the victory. “All the hard work and discipline I’ve put in over so many years has paid off. I’m especially proud that I achieved this in Slovenia, in front of the home crowd. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout the week, especially the fans.”

Senica’s success did not end there. Partnering Romania’s Stefania Bojica, she also lifted the doubles trophy to complete a remarkable title double. Slovenian players also enjoyed a strong week in doubles, with four home representatives reaching the semifinals.
