Tennis Australia Media Release, August 27, 2026

World No.7 Alex de Minaur will lead the Culture Amp Australian Davis Cup team against Poland next month, with the Australian No.1 set to return to Pat Rafter Arena in Brisbane for the crucial 2026 World Group I tie from 19-20 September.

Australia, currently No.8 in the Davis Cup rankings and 28-time champions, will be aiming to secure victory over Poland and their place in the 2027 Davis Cup Qualifiers.

Ahead of his return, De Minaur said the opportunity to represent Australia in front of the Aussie fans was something he cherished.

“There is nothing quite like representing the green and gold, and to do it at home makes it even more special,” De Minaur said.

“We know what’s at stake against Poland and we will be going out there with one goal – to get the win and put ourselves back into the Qualifiers.

“We love playing in front of the Aussie fans, and we will be ready to fight for every point.”

De Minaur headlines the Australian team selected by captain and Grand Slam champion Lleyton Hewitt, who backed the Australian No.1 to lead the team in Brisbane.

“Alex loves playing for Australia, having him lead the team in Brisbane is a huge boost,” Hewitt said.

“He has had some incredible Davis Cup performances for us over the years, and I know how much it means to him to represent his country.

“We have got a tough tie ahead of us against Poland, but playing at home gives us a great opportunity.

“We want to put ourselves back into the Qualifiers and we’ll be doing everything we can to get the result in Brisbane.”

Australia and Poland will meet for just the second time in Davis Cup history, and for the first time on home soil. Australia won their only previous encounter 4-1 in Warsaw in 2013.

The tie will be played on hard court, with two singles matches on Saturday, followed by doubles and reverse singles on Sunday. Play will begin at 1.00pm each day.

The full team line-up will be confirmed soon.
