Facundo Diaz Acosta was crowned champion of the LXIII Copa Sevilla on Sunday after defeating Dusan Lajovic 6-2, 6-1 in the final at Real Club Tenis Betis.

The 25-year-old Argentine produced a composed and commanding performance, taking control of the crucial moments against Lajovic, who had reached the final without dropping a first set in any of his previous matches at the ATP Challenger 125 clay-court tournament in southern Spain.

The opening stages were closely contested, with both players adopting an attacking approach and engaging in a series of intense rallies. After holding serve in the opening games, Diaz Acosta secured the first break of the match at 3-2 and consolidated his advantage to move 5-2 ahead.

The third-seeded Argentine then capitalised on another opportunity on Lajovic’s serve to close out the opening set 6-2. It marked the first time Lajovic had lost the opening set of a match during his run in Sevilla.

Diaz Acosta continued to dictate play at the start of the second set. The Argentine also found success at the net and broke Lajovic’s serve again after the first 50 minutes of the match.

From there, Diaz Acosta steadily extended his advantage, racing to a 5-0 lead and moving within one game of the title. Lajovic managed to prolong the contest, but Diaz Acosta remained composed and completed the 6-1 second set to seal victory in one hour and 10 minutes. He claimed his 11th ATP Challenger Tour career title, his sixth of the season.
