MOUILLERON LE CAPTIF/STARNBERG, October 3, 2026
Two years after the all-French final between Lucas Pouille and Quentin Halys, the Open de Vendee will once again feature an all-French showdown for the title. Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg and Clement Chidekh booked their places in Sunday’s final in convincing fashion and will now battle for their first title in Mouilleron-le-Captif.
In the first singles semi-final on Saturday, Gueymard Wayenburg produced an outstanding serving performance to defeat Austria’s Joel Schwaerzler 6-4, 6-2 in just 67 minutes. The Frenchman was virtually untouchable on serve, firing 12 aces, producing five love games and losing just seven points behind his delivery. He did not face a single break point.
Gueymard Wayenburg applied pressure from the start of both sets, breaking Schwaerzler early each time and never allowing the Austrian to settle. The 23-year-old from Aix-en-Provence maintained his high level throughout to secure his place in the final.
Chidekh also produced a commanding performance in the second semi-final, defeating 19-year-old Swiss Henry Bernet 6-2, 6-4. The seventh seed was aggressive on return and used his variations intelligently, controlling the match across all areas of the court.
The result continues Chidekh’s impressive progression at the Open de Vendee. After reaching the quarterfinals in 2024 and the semi-finals in 2025, the Frenchman has now gone one step further in 2026 by reaching the final.
