MOUILLERON LE CAPTIF/STARNBERG, October 4, 2026
Clement Chidekh delivered a commanding performance in the final of the Open de Vendee, defeating compatriot Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg 6-2, 6-0 to capture the 2026 title in Mouilleron-le-Captif, France.
The 25-year-old Frenchman needed just 58 minutes to complete a dominant victory and claim the fifth ATP Challenger title of his career. It was the most prestigious of his five titles so far and, significantly, his first Challenger triumph on French soil.
There was no feeling-out process in the final. Chidekh immediately put pressure on Gueymard Wayenburg’s serve, earning his first break point after a double fault and converting it to take an early lead. The Arles-born player remained highly focused on return, making intelligent choices and forcing his opponent into difficult situations.
A second break put Chidekh firmly in control at 5-1. Although Gueymard Wayenburg saved two set points to briefly halt the momentum, Chidekh remained flawless on serve and closed out the opening set 6-2.
The second set was even more one-sided. Chidekh broke immediately, again benefiting from a double fault following a missed smash from his opponent. From there, the Frenchman barely put a foot wrong.
Chidekh’s consistency and precision forced Gueymard Wayenburg to go for increasingly ambitious shots, while the Aix-en-Provence native was unable to find a response. Game after game went the way of the 25-year-old, who had previously trained for an extended period alongside his compatriot in Marseille.
Even in the final game, Gueymard Wayenburg managed to produce a spectacular point and tried to engage the Vendéspace crowd, who had hoped for a more competitive final. But the outcome was already beyond doubt.
6-2, 6-0 completed a thoroughly dominant performance and underlined the difference between the two players on the day.

The triumph will have an immediate impact on Chidekh’s ranking. He will enter the Top 150 for the first time on Monday, achieving a new career-high position.
For Gueymard Wayenburg, the defeat brought his winning streak to an end at nine matches, following his title run in Rennes. Nevertheless, he will also leave Vendée with a career milestone: he returns to the Top 200 and will reach a new career-high ranking.
The emphatic final brought the curtain down on another successful edition of the Open de Vendee. As in 2025, the tournament attracted more than 20,000 spectators to the Vendespace over the course of the week, underlining the event’s strong popularity with French tennis fans.
