Marek Jaloviec and Danylo Kalenichenko will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the 11th ITF Dittelbrunn Open, held at the Tennis Center in Hambach.

The second seed from the Czech Republic benefited from the retirement of Martins Podzus, leading 7-5, 2-1. The 22-year-old Latvian took a medical time out in the opening set and received treatment at his knee. He was eventually forced to give up after 56 minutes of play.

Kalenichenko had to fight hard to overcome German qualifier Lukas Ruepke. The seventh seed from the Ukraine fired nine aces, winning 84 per cent of his first service points to seal a 7-5, 4-5, 6-2 victory in one hour and 47 minutes.

Jaloviec, who has lifted three ITF trophies this season, and Kalenichenko, who is looking to claim his maiden singles title on the ITF Pro Circuit, will meet for the first time.

Marek Jaloviec was back in action later the day, as he teamed up with fellow Czech Michal Konecny to clinch the doubles title, winning 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 against the British duo of Keelan Oakley and Neil Pauffley. The encounter lasted one hour and 16 minutes.
