The city of Cuevas del Almanzora, located in the province of Almería, will host four ITF Pro Circuit tournaments with $10,000 in prize money each, held at the Club de Tenis y Padel Indalo. The Future tournaments, officially named “Internacionales del Almanzora”, are going to take place between 7 November and 4 December 2016.

More than 180 players from all over the world will try to compete in the event. In order to allow players without the necessary ranking to enter the main or qualifying draws, pre-qualifying tournaments will be held just before each of the ITF tournaments, that will allow players to win 4 wildcard invitations for the main draw and eight wildcard invitations for the qualifying draw.

“This event will unite tourism and sports,” Ángeles Martínez, the provinical deputy for sports, told during the tournament’s official presentation on Tuesday. The Mayor of Cuevas del Almanzora pointed out that ” we want to be known for the many activities we organize and that we also want to become a leader in tennis.”

Meanwhile the manager of the local tennis club, Carlos García, noted that “we have been involved with the project for four of five years.” The mild climate in the region of Almería will ensure that the players can enjoy a couple of sunrays during the tournament.
