While the ATP World Tour Finals in London are entering the crucial stages, preparations for the 39th edition of the MercedesCup in Stuttgart are underway. The ATP 250 event will be held at the venue of the Tennis Club Weissenhof from 10 to 16 June 2017.

Chances are good that defending champion Dominic Thiem will return to Stuttgart next year. This was indicated by his long time coach Günter Bresnik in London. “For sure Dominic will compete in ATP 250 tournaments in 2017. Those tournaments are the basis for the entire Tour. Tennis is not only about the Majors and the ATP Masters 1000 series,” the Austrian pointed out.

Thiem beat Roger Federer en-route to his his seventh ATP World Tour crown, eventually winning  6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 11 minutes over Philipp Kohlschreiber in a rain-interrupted Stuttgart final last year. The seven-time Wimbledon champion from Switzerland will also return to Germany in order to capture his first MercedesCup title. Feliciano López of Spain committed to the 2017 edition as well. Furthermore, Tommy Haas will step into action again and US-American siblings Bob and Mike Bryan, who recently celebrated their 1000th match win, will be part of the doubles competition.
