Shane Takes Oracle Waco Futures Title

Ryan Shane is the champion of the $25,000 Oracle USTA Pro Circuit Collegiate Series, held at the Baylor University in Waco, Texas. The 22-year-old emerged victorious from the all-US-American-final with Jared Hiltzik, winning 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 on Saturday afternoon.

Shane sent down eight aces and converted five of his 14 break point chances to prevail in two hours and nine minutes. Shane captured his second title on the ITF Pro Circuit following his triumph in Costa Mesa, California, last year. The World No. 613 receives $3,600 in prize money as well as 27 ATP Ranking points.

Shane won the 2015 NCAA Men’s Singles Championship, which earned him a wild card into the main draw of the US Open the same year. The Virginia resident lost in the opening round to Jeremy Chardy in four sets.

In Friday doubles final, Farris Fathi Gosea from Great Britain and Hans Hach Verdugo of Mexico defeated Colombian Juan Manuel Benitez Chavarriaga and Julian Lenz from Germany 7-5, 6-3. The encounter lasted one hour and 14 minutes.

The ITF Indoor swing will continue in Tallahassee next week for the 40th and final Futures event held on US-American soil this season.
