The ATP Challenger Tour will return to the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region of Italy for the inaugural edition of the “Internazionali di Tennis d’Abruzzo”, held at the Sporting Club di Francavilla al Mare from 24 to 30 April 2017. The new clay court event will offer a total prize money of €64,000.

About 25,000 people live in the city, located to the south of Pescara at the Adriatic Sea. The local tennis club “Circolo di Francavilla al Mare” provides five courts and stands with a capacity of about 500 seats will be installed. Luca Del Federico will act as tournament director.

The last time that the ATP Challenger made a stop in this region took place in 1992, when the city of Pescara welcomed the players from all over the world. At the end of last year, ATP Challenger Supervisor Carmelo Di Dio gave the final ok for the new event.
