MONTREAL, February 9, 2017

Team Canada secured its second straight victory on Wednesday, sweeping Bolivia 3-0 at the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Americas Zone Group I event being held in Metepec, Mexico until February 11.

After defeating Venezuela 2-1 on Tuesday, captain Sylvain Bruneau modified his lineup to include Fed Cup rookie Katherine Sebov (Toronto, ON) as the no. 2 singles player replacing Charlotte Robillard-Millette (Blainville, QC). Sebov gave Canada a 1-0 lead thanks to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Maria-Fernanda Alvarez-Teran. The 18-year-old hit five aces in the match and won 88% of her first serve points. Before coming to Mexico, Sebov reached a pair of Challenger semifinals in Orlando and last week at the $100,000 event in Midland.

In the second match, Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (Mississauga, ON) earned her third triumph in two days defeating Noelia Zeballos 6-3, 6-1 in under an hour. Robillard-Millette and Sebov completed the sweep of Bolivia with a 6-2, 6-1 win in doubles over Hortencia Birnbaumer and Paola Cortez Vargas.

On Thursday, Canada will face Paraguay with first place in Pool A on the line. The winner of the tie will advance to Saturday’s final for the chance to qualify for the World Group II playoffs in April.
