Karolina Pliskova is the champion of the $776,000 Qatar Total Open, held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha. The second seed from the Czech Republic defeated Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-3, 6-4 in Satruday’s final.
Pliskova sent down four aces, winning 77 per cent of her first service points and converted four of her seven break point chances to secure victory in one hour and 19 minutes.

“I think I’m having a great start to the year, which is always important,” Pliskova told afterwards.
“To beat players like Cibulkova and Wozniacki is something amazing. I’ve never beat them before, but I was trying really hard this week so I’m really happy with my wins here.”
The World No. 3 from Louny takes away $132,740 in prize money as well as 470 points in WTA ranking points. Pliskova lifted her eighth career trophy, her second of the season after claiming the title in Brisbane last month. She has also become second in the WTA Race, just behind Serena Williams.
Spears And Srebotnik Take Doubles Crown
Earlier the day, fourth seeds Abigail Spears from the United States and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia clinched the doubles title, winning 6-3, 7-6 over Olga Savchuk from the Ukraine and Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova. The encounter lasted one hour and 29 minutes.
