The quarterfinals of the €64,000 Interanazionali di Tennis Trofeo Faip-Perrel are set. With Matteo Berrettini only one Italian made it into the stage of the final. The 20-year-old wild card defeated German lucky loser Nils Langer 6-4, 7-5 on Thursday.
Berrettini sent down five aces, winning 77 per cent of his first service points to advance in one hour and 20 minutes. The World No. will next take on Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan, who eased past Ilya Ivashka 6-2, 6-1 in just under one hour of play.
Jerzy Janowicz beat Mirza Basic of Bosnia and Herzegovina 7-6, 6-2. The Polish wild card fired 16 aces, saved all of the four break points and converted two of his own to secure victory in one hour and 21 minutes. Next up for Janowicz will Egor Gerasimov. The qualifier from Belarus upset the tournament’s number two Lukas Lacko 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in one hour and 34 minutes.
