SANTIAGO, March 11, 2017
The finals of the $50,000 Challenger Cachantun Cup are set. Rogerio Dutra Silva, top seed in the singles draw, will take on local wild card Nicolás Jarry on the clay courts of the Club Deportivo Manquehue on Sunday.
The World No. 85 from Brazil defeated Simone Bolelli of Italy 6-4, 6-2. Dutra Silva saved eight of the nine break points he faced, converting four of his own to seal victory in one hour and 48 minutes.
Brazilian Guilherme Clezar withdrew from his semi-final encounter with Jarry due to a left foot injury. The 21-year-old from Chile, who finished runner-up to Alexander Bublik at the Morelos Open in February and eyes his first ATP Challenger title, won the only previous meeting with Dutra Silva in the opening round in Santiago 2015.
Jarry will also compete in the doubles final, teaming up with fellow countryman Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera. The tandem will face top seeded Argentines Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni.
