Djere And Kolar Advance To Opatija Futures Semi-Finals

The semi-finals are set at the $15,000 ITF Futures in Opatija, the final stop of the four weeks Istarska Rivijera clay court swing. Top seed Laslo Djere of Serbia eased past seventh favourite Denys Mylokostov from the Ukraine, winning 6-1, 6-0.

The World No. 196 sent down seven aces and capitalized on all of his six break points to advance in only 53 minutes. Djere will next face Michael Linzer. The tournament’s number three from Austria fought past fifth seed Ljubumir Celebic of Macedonia 7-6, 4-6, 6-4. Linzer won 71 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in three hours and 13 minutes.

Zdenek Kolar defeated Mate Delic 6-3, 6-4. The second seed from the Czech Republic converted four of his 10 break points to prevail in one hour and 19 minutes. Kolar will next take on Tomislav Brkic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who beat Croatian Nino Serdarusic 6-1, 6-3 in 57 minutes.

Pascal Meis of Germany and Italian Fabrizio Omao took the doubles title with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over the all-Argentine combination of Juan Ignacio Cardini and Ignacio Monzon. The encounter lasted one hour and 14 minutes.
