The ATP Challenger has returned to the oldest city in the U.S. state of Georgia for the 9th year of the $75,000 St. Joseph’s/Candler Savannah Challenger, hosted at Savannah’s island community The Landings Club.

Darian King will be the tournament’s top seed. The 25-year-old from Barbados is currently ranked on a career high World No. 108 and will open his title bid against US-American wild card Marcos Giron.

Second favourite Henri Laaksonen from Switzerland will start against Evan King from the United States. The tournament’s number three Peter Polansky from Canada will take on another local hero in person of Dennis Novikov. Argentine Leonardo Mayer is seeded fourth and opens his Savannah campaign against Christopher O’Connell from Australia.

Top ranked US-American will be former University of Tennessee standout Tennys Sandgren, who reached the semifinals of the 2011 NCAA Championships. The 25-year-old captured three USTA Pro Circuit singles titles in 2016. Sandgren won one singles title in 2017 in Tempe. He holds 13 singles and 16 doubles titles on the USTA Pro Circuit and ITF Circuit.

US-American wild card Christian Harrison will kick off main draw action on Monday. The 22-year-old from Bradenton will face Alejandro Falla of Colombia. Harrison won the only previous meeting between the two at the ATP 250 event in Atlanta in 2013.
