The 32-man-draw has been whittled down to the final two players, as Alexander Zverev will take on Guido Pella in Sunday’s singles title match at the BMW Open by FWU.
In front of packed stands at the MTTC Iphitos, Zverev defeated second seed Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain 7-5, 7-5 on a sunny Saturday in Munich. The tournament’s number three and last German standing in the draw sent down nine aces and broke serve in the 11th game of each set to secure victory in one hour and 34 minutes.

“I was very aggressive on court today and took the balls early. It was a good match and I am happy to be in the final, as Roberto is a tough opponent,” Zverev was pleased after reaching his second final of the season. He captured his second ATP career title in Montpellier in February.
Here in Munich, five different Germans have accounted for seven titles since 1974. and Zverev is trying to add his name to the list of the local champions on Sunday by taking on Guido Pella.
The Argentine qualifier battled past #NextGenATP star Hyeon Chung, rallying 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Pella won 69 per cent of his first service points and broke serve four times to prevail after two hours and 39 minutes.
“I served pretty well but it was a tough match,” Pella told after reaching his second final on the ATP World Tour. He finished runner-up to Pablo Cuevas in Rio de Janeiro last year. Pella has now won six consecutive matches after qualifying.
“It has been a rough week for me but physically I feel good. I will try to relax as good as possible in order to be ready for tomorrow.”
The only previous meeting between Pella and Zverev took place at the 2015 ATP Challenger final in Heilbronn when the German captured his second Challenger career title.
“Unbelievable. Another final against Alex. This time at ATP level. It is going to be tough again, as he is a great player competing in front of his home crowd but I am going to be well prepared for tomorrow.”
In the doubles final, Frenchmen Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin will take on the all-Colombian-combination of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah.
