Tennis supertalent Nicola Kuhn, born in Austria and playing under the Spanish flag, has been one of the most promising players born in 2000. The 17-year-old is currently ranked on a career high World No. 530 and captured his first title on the ITF Pro Circuit, winning the $15,000 clay court event in Zamardi, Hungary, two weeks ago.
Kuhn defeated the tournament’s top seed and Hugarian Davis Cup player Attila Balazs in the final 6-4, 6-0, joining Félix Auger-Aliassime of Canada as the only second player of his generation with a pro title.

Earlier in the season, Kuhn decided to put an end to his stay at the Juan Carlos Ferrero Equelite Sport Academy, where he has developed his tennis activicty since 2012 and worked together with Fran Martínez.
“I wanted to make a change because I thought it would be best for me and my tennis,” Kuhn was quoted in the Blog “Scribbling in the Sun” of Expat and British journalist Donna Gee about his decision to leave the academy in Villena. “At the moment it is proving so. These things happen, there are times when you need a different direction and look for a change.”
The Innsbruck native moved to the Costa Blanca together with his family when Nicola was three months old. Kuhn has now returned to the Club de Tenis Torrevieja in the South of Alicante teaming-up with Pedro Caprotta, the man who had coached him before he moved to Villena.
“Right now the biggest handicap for me is the physical one,” the teenager explained. “It is something that the team and I are training to improve. My priority is to win the maximum possible matches and to keep improving”.
