Taro Daniel is the only seeded player left in the singles draw at the €43,000 Lisboa Belém Open. The tournament’s number three defeated Gleb Sakharov from France 6-2, 6-1 on quarterfinals Friday.

Daniel won 68 per cent of his first service points, capitalized on six of his seven break point chances to advance in one hour and 10 minutes.

The 24-year-old from Japan will next take on Gianluigi Quinzi. The Word No. 263 from Italy fought past the last Portuguese standing, Pedro Sousa, rallying 3-6, 7-6, 6-2. Quinzi won 66 of the total 109 points played to prevail after two hours and 24 minutes.

Daniel leads 3-0 in head-to-head records. Their last meeting took place at the ATP Challenger in Buenos Aires earlier this season. Daniel won in straight sets.

Oscar Otte from Germany sent down six aces to secure a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Daniel Munoz de la Nava of Spain. The 23-year-old from Cologne will next challenge Attila Balazs from Hungary, who beat Belgian Joris de Loore 7-6, 6-3 in one hour and 39 minutes. Otte and Balazs will meet for the first time.
