KITZBÜHEL, June 21, 2017
38 days ahead of the start of the Generali Open, the organizers of the ATP 250 clay court event announced Wednesday the official player acceptance list. The field will be led by World No. 23 Pablo Cuevas from Uruguay.
The South American will be joined by Italians Fabio Fognini and defending champion Paolo Lorenzi. Veterans David Ferrer from Spain, Germany’s Tommy Haas and local favourite Jürgen Melzer will also be part of the line-up. The latter will receive a wild card alongside his brother Gerald. Two time champion Robin Haase from the Netherlands and 2015 winner Philipp Kohlschreiber will return to Kitzbühel, too.
“It is a highly competitive field of well-players as well as clay courts specialists,” tournament director Alexander Antonitsch is looking forward to some exciting matches. “It is also nice to see that a lot of players have already played here in the past and seem to feel comfortable coming back year after year.”
The tournament’s cut-off is at World No. 74.
