KITZBÜHEL, July 11, 2017

Six Top-100 players entered the qualifying draw of the Generali Open in Kitzbühel, held from 29 July to 5 August. The qualifying field is led by World No. 71 Jeremy Chardy of France.

“The cut-off is amazing,” tournament director Alexander Antonitsch is happy. “Last acceptance is former Kitzbühel runner-up Paul-Henri Mathieu, currently ranked at World No. 138. Players like Jerzy Janowicz and Tommy Robredo are only part of the alternates,” Antonitsch points out.

Sebastian Ofner, who enjoyed a fantastic Wimbledon run stunning US-American Jack Sock in his Grand Slam debut and first ever grass court tournament, will receive a wild card into the singles qualifying as well as into the doubles main draw.

“Unfortunately, we only have two main draw wild cards, which we had already awarded to Jürgen and Gerald Melzer. But we are very happy for the chance to watch Sebastian playing here in Kitzbühel for the first time,” Antonitsch stated.

18-year-old Jurij Rodionov also earned a wild card for the qualifying. The Austrian teenager played a decent Istrian swing earlier this season, as he advanced to the semi-finals at the ITF Pro Circuit event in Umag and reached the quarterfinals in Porec.
