PERUGIA, July 17, 2017
After losing all of his previous five ATP Challenger finals, Laslo Djere of Serbia eventually captured his maiden crown. The 22-year-old Senta native has become the 2017 champion of the €43,000 Internazionali Di Tennis Città Di Perugia held at the Tennis Club Perugia.
Djere edged past Spanish veteran Daniel Munoz de la Nava in Sunday’s final 7-6, 6-4. The seventh seed, who knocked out the tournament’s number five Marcel Granollers in the semi-finals, won 73 per cent of his first service points and broke serve three times to finish the encounter after one hour and 33 minutes.
Djere earns €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points
On Saturday, Salvatore Caruso from Italy and Jonathan Eysseric of France captured the doubles title with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Argentine Nicolas Kicker and Fabricio Neis from Brazil. The final ended after almost one hour of play.
