Former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero and German young gun Alexander Zverev, currently ranked World No. 11, will team-up for the American hard court swing starting in two weeks.
“Alexander Zverev is a different player,” said Ferrero, who clinched the top spot of the ATP rankings in 2003 for eight weeks. “It’s a challenge that fills me with enthusiasm and desire to do my best.”
The partnership will start at the ATP 500 in Washington until the US Open.
37-year-old Ferrero captured 16 titles during his career, crowned by winning the French Open in 2003. He reigned the ATP rankings for eight weeks the same year until he finished runner-up to his conquerer Andy Roddick at the US Open.
The Spaniard retired from professional tennis in 2012 at his home tournament in Valencia in 2012. Ferrero runs the JC Equelite Tennis Academy in Villena. Zverev has celebrated his biggest triumph so far by lifting the trophy at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome.
