STARNBERG, July 26, 2017

Novak Djokovic announced on Wednesday via facebook that he will miss the rest of the 2017 season in order to recover from a right elbow injury.

The World No. 4 admitted after his quarterfinal loss to Tomas Berdych at Wimbledon earlier this month that he had been feeling pain in his elbow for the past 18 months.

“I have made a decision to not play any competition, any tournaments for the rest of 2017. Unfortunately this is the decision that had to be made at this moment. Wimbledon was probably the toughest tournament for me in terms of feeling the pain that has escalated,” Djokovic said.

He also added that Andre Agassi commited to stay with him the next year.

Since clinching the 2016 French Open title to complete his Career Grand Slam, Djokovic has failed to claim another major title. He lost in the second round of the Australian Open and fell in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros. Djokovic captured the ATP World Tour titles in Doha and Eastbourne this year.
