22-year-old Calvin Héméry, ranked World No. 213, whose father is from Nigeria and his mother is French, won the €43,000 Aamulehti Tampere Open in Finland, beating 29-year-old Portuguese Pedro Sousa, the top seed of the tournament, 6-3 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.

Hemery saved the only break point he faced, converting two of his own to clinch his first ATP Challenger trophy after one hour and six minutes.

It is the third title of the season for the TC Paris player after reaching the final of Blois Challenger and two ITF Futures in Nigeria (Abuja) in May and Florida (Vero Beach) in April earlier this year. Hemery earns €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points.

On Saturday, Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen captured the double title, winning 6-2, 6-7, 10-3 of Lucas Gomez from Mexico and Juan Ignacio Londero of Argentina. The final lasted one hour and 25 minutes.
