Laslo Djere, top seed at the €64,000 Acqua Dolomia Tennis Cup, stepped into action on Tuesday at the Eurosporting complex in Cordenons. The World No. 108 fought past qualifier Martín Cuevas from Uruguay 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Djere won 70 per cent of his first service points and 52 per cent of the total points played to prevail in two hours and 34 minutes. The 22-year-old from Serbia, who captured his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour in Perugia earlier this season, will next take on Italian Federico Gaio.
Danilo Petrovic of Serbia knocked out the tournament’s number two Guillermo Garcia-López from Spain 7-6,6-2. The 25-year-old from Belgrade capitalized on five of his 14 break point chances to seal victory in one hour and 55 minutes. Petrovic will next challenge Italian wild card entry Andrea Pellegrino.
Third seed Adam Pavlasek beat Gianluca Mager of Italy 7-5, 6-3. The World No. 138 from the Czech Republic won 78 per cent of his first service points to advance in one hour and 27 minutes. Pavlasek will next face #NextGenATP player Elias Ymer. The 21-year-old from Sweden eased past Italian qualifier Gianluca Di Nicola 6-2, 6-3 in 66 minute.
