MANERBIO, August 24, 2017
The 32-man-draw of the €43,000 Internaztionali di Manerbio Trofeo “Dimmidisi” has been whittled down to the final eight. Cordenons winner Elias Ymer emerged victorious from the battle of last week’s ATP Challenger champions against Ricardo Ojeda Lara, who celebrated his maiden title in Meerbusch.
On a sunny Thursday afternoon, the #NextGenATP player from Sweden saved both break points he faced, capitalizing on four of his own to secure a 6-2, 6-1 win in only 52 minutes. Ymer will next take on Carlos Taberner. The 20-year-old Spaniard knocked out the tournament’s number four Arthur de Greef of Belgium 7-6, 3-6, 6-1. Taberner won 53 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 51 minutes.
Lorenzo Sonego is the last Italian standing in the singles main draw. The 22-year-old wild card entry defeated sixth seeded Frenchman Mathias Bourgue 6-3, 6-3. Sonego will next challenge third favourite Roberto Carballés-Baena fired nine aces, winning 88 per cent of his first service points to beat Gianluigi Quinzi 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 20 minutes.
