MANERBIO, August 26, 2017

Top-seed Guillermo Garcia-López and Roberto Carballés-Baena will compete in an all-Spanish-singles final at the €43,000 Internazionali di Manerbio Trofeo “Dimmidisi” on Sunday.

Garcia-López ended the strong run of Swedish #NextGenATP player Elias Ymer, who captured the ATP Challenger title in Cordenons last week. In an entertaining encounter on Centre Court, the World No. 136 from Albacete won only one point more than Ymer but eventually secured a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory in two hours and 48 minutes.

Third favourite Carballés-Baena defeated fellow Spaniard and former World No. 5 Tommy Robredo 6-4, 6-3. The 24-year-old from Tenerife saved two of the three break points he faced, converting four of his own to advance in one hour and 17 minutes.

Carballés-Baena will appear in his second consecutive ATP Challenger final after falling to Ymer in Cordenons. The World No. 127 will vie for his fourth Challenger title, his second of the season following his triumph in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Garcia-López lifted the trophy in Scheveningen earlier this year. The five-time-champion on the ATP World Tour could win his fourth Challenger title and leads 2-0 in head-to-head records between the two. Garcia-López emerged victorious from their last meeting in Estoril in 2015 in straight sets.

Earlier in the day, Romain Arneodo from Monaco and Hugo Nys of France took the doubles crown with a 4-6, 7-6, 10-5 win over Russian Mikhail Elgin and Roman Jebavy from the Czech Republic. The final lasted one hour and 40 minutes.
