Roberto Carballés Baena, the highest ranked player left in the singles draw of the €64,000 LV Copa Sevilla, advanced to the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The second seed from Tenerife emerged victorious from the all-Spanish-affair with Bernabé Zapata Miralles 6-3, 6-1. Carballés Baena capitalized on five of his 14 break point chances to secure victory in one hour and 23 minutes.

The World No. 109 will next play fifth favourite Filip Krajinovic of Serbia, who beat Spanish teenager Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, this year’s junior’s champion at Wimbledon. Krajinovic won 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 11 minutes.

Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime knocked out the tournament’s number six Adam Pavlasek from the Czech Republic. The 17-year-old from Montreal won 85 per cent of his first service points and broke serve three times to secure a 6-1, 7-6 win in one hour and 21 minutes.
