Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime advanced to the semi-finals of the €64,000 LV Copa Sevilla, cruising past fourth seed Taro Daniel of Japan 6-1, 6-0 on Thursday evening.
The 17-year-old from Montréal saved all four break points he faced, capitalizing on five of his own to prevail in only 50 minutes. Next up for Auger-Aliassime will be fifth seed Filip Krajinovic, the highest ranked player left in the singles draw. The World No. 126 from Serbia knocked knocked out second favourite Roberto Carballés Baena 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 53 minutes under the lights at Real Betis Tenis Club.
Earlier in the evening, French qualifier Corentin Moutet advanced to his second semi-final at ATP Challenger level in two weeks, beating Spaniard Carlos Gómez-Herrera 6-3, 6-3. The only 18-year-old lefty from France won 75 per cent of his first service points and 58 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in one hour and 28 minutes.
Moutet will take on Inigo Cervantes, who emerged victorious from the all-Spanish-battle with #NextGenATP player Jaume Munar 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. The encounter lasted two hours and 32 minutes.
