HAMBURG, September 12, 2017
The German Tennis Federation (DTB) announced on Tuesday that it will organize its first tournament as part of the ITF Pro Circuit. The $15,000 men’s event will be held from 22 to 28 October 2017 at the venue of the Hamburger Tennis Verband (HTV) in Hamburg. “These events are an essential component of our promotion of young talents,” DTB sports director
Klaus Eberhard said.
“It is important for young players to gain some experience at international level as early as possible. It is our goal to foster this transition process.”
The tournament should had actually been run by another national organizer, which however seemed to break its commitment at short notice. The German Tennis Federation has stepped into the breach.
Hamburg native Marvin Möller has already announced that he will play at his home tournament. The 18-year-old is currently ranked on a career high World No. 909. The teenager will be joined by one of Germany’s biggest talent, Rudolf Molleker. The 16-year-old captured his first doubles title at ITF senior’s level alongside Elliot Benchetrit and is ranked World No. 662.
