QUÉBEC CITY, September 18, 2017

Alison van Uytvanck from Belgium capped a dream week in Québec City, winning her first WTA career title at the National Bank Cup by IGA. The seventh seed came from a set down to defeat Timea Babos of Hungary 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in Sunday’s final.

“I would have never believed that I could win here, getting to the final was already a great result. I am very happy and we are going to celebrate this win,” Van Uytvanck said after the match. “It gives me a lot of confidence, I had a lot of points to defend during this stretch and now the pressure is off and I hope to keep playing like I did here.”

This is the second straight year that the Quebec City tournament has crowned a first time champion on the WTA after Oceane Dodin of France captured the title last year.

Later in the day, Timea Babos claimed the doubles title alongside her partner Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic. The pair defeated the young Canadian duo of Bianca Andreescu and Carson Branstine 6-3, 6-1.
