STUTTGART, September 21, 2017

While the ATP World Tour is approaching the final part of the season, preparations for the 2018 MercedesCup have already started. The ATP 250 grass court event is going to be held at the venue of the Tennis Club Weissenhof from 9 to 17 June 2018. Ticket sales will start next Sunday.

“After this year’s record with 61,000 fans attending the tournament and five days sold out, there has already been a high demand for the 2018 edition,” tournament director and organizer Edwin Weindorfer told this week. “Fans can take advantage of an early booking discount of 15% on all tickets bought until November 5.”

In order to offer the tennis stars perfect conditions on their way to the Grand Slam highlight in Wimbledon, four courts will get new grass. “In addition to the Center Court, the two other match courts as well as a practice court will be renewed,” said Weindorfer, who is currently in intensive negotiations with 2015 Stuttgart champion and World No. 1 Rafael Nadal, World No. 2 Roger Federer and Austria’s tennis hero Dominic Thiem for next year’s edition.

“It is our declared goal to present at least one of these three Top stars 2018 in Stuttgart,” told Weindorfer, who is able to announce the first high-caliber commitment for next year’s tournament, as World No. 9 Grigor Dimitrov will return to the Swabian metropolis.

“Grigor Dimitrov has once again demonstrated his great abilities with his triumph at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. He has played a fantastic season so far and is on his way to the ATP World Tour Finals next November in London, “ Weindorfer added.
