Filip Krajinovic is the winner of the third edition of the €43,000 BFD Challenger held at the Due Ponti Sporting Club in Rome. The seventh seed from Serbia edged past Spanish qualifier Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-4, 6-3 in Sunday’s final.
Krajinovic won 74 per cent of his first service points and broke serve four times to prevail after one hour and 11 minutes. The World No. 105 lifted his fourth ATP Challenger trophy of the season, following his triumphs in Heilbronn, Marburg and Biella. Krajinovic earns €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points.
On Saturday, Slovakians Martin Klizan and Jozef Kovalik clinched the doubles title with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Belgian tandem of Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen. The match lasted one hour and 18 minutes.
