All of the four seeded players in second round action on Wednesday advanced to the quarterfinals of the $100,000 Stockton Challenger held at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on the campus of University of the Pacific.
The tournament’s number two Tennys Sandgren edged past Liam Broady from Great Britain 7-6, 6-4. The 26-year-old US-American sent down eight aces, winning 67 per cent of his first service points to secure victory in one hour and 39 minutes. Sandgren will next take on Cameron Norrie. The eighth favourite emerged victorious from the all-British-battle with Brydan Klein, rallying 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 after two hours and 37 minutes.
Fourth seed Stefan Kozlov beat US-American wild card entry Denis Kudla 6-4, 6-4 to face Darian King from Barbados in the stage of the final eight. The tournament’s number six came back from a set down to overcome Noah Rubin from the United States 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 in one hour and 21 minutes.
