Yannick Maden advanced to the semi-finals of the €106,500 Open Brest Arena Crédit Agricole, upsetting the top seed of the ATP Challenger event, Daniil Medvedev of Russia, 7-6, 6-4.
Maden saved all four break points he faced, converting one of his own to prevail after one hour and 27 minutes. The 27-year-old German will next play #NextGenATP Frenchman Corentin Moutet, who beat compatriot Gleb Sakharov 6-3, 6-1.
The teenager won 76 per cent of his first service points and capitalized on five of his eight break point chances to secure victory in one hour and 14 minutes.
“I am very happy to reach the semis here in Brest but the tournament is not over yet,” Moutet is looking forward to his match in the stage of the final four.
19-year-old Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas knocked out fourth seed Jeremy Chardy from France 7-6, 6-4 to meet Marius Copil. The second seed from Romania beat local wild card entry Ugo Humbert 6-4, 6-4 in 68 minutes.
