HAMBURG, October 28, 2017

Daniel Masur clinched the title of the inaugural $15,000 Tennis Future Hamburg presented by Tannenhof held on hard courts at the venue of the Hamburger Tennis-Verband. The 22-year-old emerged victorious from the all-German-final on Sunday, beating teenager Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

21 local players dominated the 32-man-singles draw and the two top seeds advanced to the title match. Masur set the tone early by taking the opening set. The second favourite was rock solid on his second serve, winning all of the points.

Altmaier fought back in the second set breaking serve in the sixth game with a punishing forehand to take the match the distance.

Masur, however, gained an early lead again and eventually won seven points more than his opponent to finish the encounter after two hours and six minutes.

“To win a title on home soil is very special. I love to play in front in front of the home crowd and I am very happy to leave with the title,” told the champion, who practices at the TennisBase in Oberhaching.

Masur lifted his sixth ITF Futures trophy, his first since his triumph in Schwieberdingen in January last year. The World No. 275 takes away €1,944 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.

“It was a match at highest level,” Altmaier said. “Maybe only a few points made the difference in the end. It was an honour for me to compete at this very well organized event.”

Later in the day, Dan Added of France and German youngster Marvin Möller clinched the doubles title with a 6-7, 7-6, 10-2 victory over Turkish top seeds Altug Celikbilek and Anil Yuksel. The final lasted one hour and 28 minutes.
