Eighth seed Lukas Lacko delighted the home crowd by clinching the title of the €106,500 Peugeot Slovak Open held at the Aegon Arena in Bratislava. The 30-year-old local favourite defeated Marius Copil of Romania 6-4, 7-6 in Sunday’s final.

Lacko withstood 15 aces from Copil, who also finished runner-up in the capital of Slovakia last year to Norbert Gombos. The World No. 126 sent down nine aces,  saved all three break points he faced, converting one of his own to secure victory in one hour and 34 minutes.

“Ending a tournament with a win is always great. Thanks to all the fans, who supported me throughout the week,” Lacko told afterwards. By lifting his third trophy in Bratislava, he earns €15,270 in prize money as well as 110 ATP ranking points.

On Saturday, British siblings Ken and Neal Skupski clinched the doubles title with a 8-7, 6-3, 10-8 win over Sander Arends from the Netherlands and Antonio Sancic of Croatia. The encounter lasted one hour and 16 minutes.
