Seppi Opens Brescia Challenger Title Bid

The penultimate week of the season on the ATP Challenger Tour is underway and features five tournaments on four continents. In ltaly the stage has been set for the €43,000 Internazionali Città di Brescia. The top seeds of the tournament, however, were forced to withdraw from the event. Marton Fucsovics from Hungary struggled with a right foot and injury and Marius Copil of Romania pulled out due to fatigue.

Seppi Title Favourite

The highest ranked player left in the singles draw is local favourite Andreas Seppi, who opened his title bid with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Ukrainian qualifier Volodoymyr Uzhylovskyi on Tuesday evening. The third seed from Bolzano saved two of the three break points he faced, converting three of his own to advance in one hour and eight minutes.

Seppi will next take on Spanish wild card entry and reigning Wimbledon junior’s champion Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who edged past Farrukh Dustov from Uzkbekistan 6-3, 6-4.
