Local favourtite Andreas Seppi advanced to the quarterfinals of the €43,000 Internazionali Città di Brescia. The third seed of the ATP Challenger event defeated Spanish wild card entry and Wimbledon junior’s champion Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-1, 6-4 on Wednesday evening.
Seppi saved all four break points he faced, capitalizing on three of his own to seal victory in only 50 minutes. The 33-year-old Bolzano native will take on Laurynas Grigelis. The 26-year-old from Lithuania cruised past Yannick Jankovits of France 6-4, 6-2 in only 52 minutes.
Earlier in the day, last week’s champion of the Slovak Open in Bratislava, Lukas Lacko, openend his Brescia campaign with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over fellow Slovakian Lukas Klein. The fourth seed struck 10 aces, winning 80 per cent of his first service points to advance in one hour and 15 minutes. Next up for Lacko will be Italian lucky loser Giovanni Fonio.
