VIENNA, December 7, 2017

Four weeks after the all-French final at the Erste Bank Open 500, in which Lucas Pouille got the better of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the two Vienna finalists led the “Grande Nation” to a 3-2 triumph at the Davis Cup final against Belgium. Pouille defeated Steve Darcis in the final rubber contributing that the “ugliest salad bowl in the world” has returned to France for the first time in 16 years.

The 2017 edition of the Erste Bank Open was also a great success. It saw more fans come out and watch the best tennis players than ever before. “The tournament has broken the 60,000 attendance mark for the first time this year, which is a clear indication that the ATP 500 event has finally arrived in Vienna. In addition, the players appreciate the great atmosphere inside the Wiener Stadthalle,” emphasizes tournament director Herwig Straka.

Pre-sale tickets to next year’s edition, held from 20 to 28 October 2018, are now available here.

Straka has already started to work on an attractive line-up for 2018. “I had a couple of promising talks with some players in November on the sidelines of the ATP Finals in London and therefore I am very confident that we can once again present a great field of players in the coming year,” the tournament director is convinced.

The total prize money of the Erste Bank Open 2018 will increase to a record total amount of  €2,788,570.
