DOHA, December 10, 2017
The ITF Pro Circuit has returned to the desert for the 4th Qatar ITF Futures 2017 held at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha.
Roberto Ortega-Olmedo captured his fifth title of the season, winning Saturday’s singles final against third seed Markus Eriksson from Sweden 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. The second favourite from Spain converted five of his nine break point chances to secure victory in one hour and 39 minutes.
Ortega-Olmedo earns $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.
“The trophy is coming home this week! It was a tough week, but that’s how it tastes better. Fifth title of the year and now stronger than ever for the last tournament of the season,” Ortega-Olmedo stated on instragram.
On Friday, Ryan Peniston and Andrew Watson emerged victorious from an all-British-doubles final, winning 6-3, 7-6 over fourth seeds Richard Gabb and Luke Johnson. The encounter lasted one hour and 22 minutes.
Doha will host two more $ 15,000 ITF Futures over the next two weeks.
