Alexander Zverev made it 1-0 with a 4-3(3), 1-4, [5-1] win over newly crowned Brisbane International champion Nick Kyrgios before Grigor Dimitrov secured victory for Team World beating Lleyton Hewitt 4-1, 4-2. Hewitt and Kyrgios finished the night with a doubles win, beating Zverev and Dimitrov 4-1, 2-4, [5-3].

“It was great to get out there on the court. I’m feeling confident and the body is feeling good so let’s get down to Melbourne and get out there,” Dimitrov said.

Kyrgios said he is looking forward to Australian Open action after a successful start to 2018.

“To perform like that in front of a home crowd up in Brisbane was great. I want to carry that into the Australian Open and perform well there next week as well. I’m looking forward to getting down there,” said Kyrgios.

Australian Davis Cup Captain Lleyton Hewitt said he enjoyed his return to Ken Rosewall Arena.

“I’ve always loved coming out here and playing in Sydney, and on this court. Tonight I was playing with some of the best guys on the tour right now and it will be good to see how they play over the next couple of weeks at the Australian Open,” Hewitt said.
