Mats Moraing is the champion of the €43,000 Koblenz Open. The 25-year-old German cruised past Frenchman Kenny de Schepper in Sunday’s singles final held at the local CGM-Arena.
Moraing dominated the encounter right from the beginning, winning 91 per cent of his first service points. The World No. 205, who entered the main draw with a wildcard, didn’t face a break point, converting five of his own to celebrate his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour after only 46 minutes.
“Everything simply worked out today,” told Moraing, who finished the tournament without suffering one single service loss. “I am very happy and I am ready for more. I hope that I can keep going like this.”
Moraing will next play at the ATP Challenger in Rennes. He takes away €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points.
Arneodo/Weissborn Prevail

Earlier in the day, Romain Arneodo of Monaco and Austrian Tristan-Samuel Weissborn captured the doubles title. In the final between the two top seeded teams, the second favourites rallied from a set down to overcome Sander Arends from the Netherlands and Croatian Antonio Sancic 6-7, 7-5, 10-6. The encounter lasted one hour and 36 minutes.
“We were able to find our rhythm during the week,” said Weissborn, who teamed up with his partner for the first time. “In the deciding moments we played our best tennis. That made the difference in the end,” Arneodo added.
The pair will next play at the ATP Challenger in Rennes. “It’s always nice to start the new season with a title and we are looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Our goal is to enter ATP World Tour tournaments in summer,” Weissborn told.
