SAN FRANCISCO, February 11, 2018
Dominik Koepfer and Jason Jung will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the $100,000 Kunal Patel San Francisco Open. Koepfer cruised past US-American Dennis Novikov 6-3, 6-1 in the semis.
The 23-year-old German saved all three break points he faced, converting four of his own to advance in only 52 minutes. Koepfer is making strides on the ATP Challenger Tour, as he only fell in the quarterfinals in Dallas to Kei Nishikori and will appear in his first title match at this tournament level.
He will take on Jason Jung, who knocked off Serbian teenager Miomir Kecmanovic 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. The 28-year-old from Chines Taipei struck 11 aces, winning 83 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 57 minutes.
Koepfer and Jung will meet for the first time. Jung is eyeing his third ATP Challenger title following his triumphs in Zhangjiagang last year and Chengdu 2016.
