Two seeded players are left in the singles draw of the €43,000 Challenger Cherbourg La-Manche and will meet in the semi-finals. The tournament’s No. 2 Maximilian Marterer eased past Australian teenager Alexei Popyrin 6-2, 6-4 on Friday afternoon.

The 22-year-old German saved the only break point he faced, converting three of his own to advance in just under one hour of play. Next up for Marterer will be fourth seed Matteo Berrettini. The #NextGenATP Italian defeated seventh favourite Kenny de Schepper of France 6-4, 7-5. Berrettini struck 12 aces, winning 80 per cent of his first service points to prevail after one hour and 22 minutes.

Mats Moraing, who knocked out top seed Gilles Simon in the second round, continued his good run of form with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Swedish qualifier Mikael Ymer. The 25-year-old German capitalized on four of his six break point chances to finishe the encounter in only 52 minutes. Moraing will next challenge French wild card entry Constant Lestienne, who edged past Germany’s Tobias Kamke 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
