Maximilian Marterer and Constant Lestienne will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the €43,000 Challenger Cherbourg – La Manche. In a match between the two remaining seeded players in the draw, Marterer defeated #NextGenATP Italian Matteo Berrettini 6-4, 7-6.
On Saturday afternoon, the World No. 78 from Germany sent down nine aces and capitalized on both of his two break point chances to prevail after one hour and 28 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Lestinne, who entered the main draw with a wild card, defeated Mats Moraing of Germany 6-3, 6-4. The 25-year-old Frenchman saved all six break points he faced, converting two of his own to secure victory in 67 minutes.
Marterer and Lestienne will meet for the first time. The No. 2 seed from Nürnberg could clinch his sixth ATP Challenger title. Lestienne eyes lifting his second trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour.
