Matteo Berrettini clinched his second title on the ATP Challenger Tour, lifting the trophy of the €64,000 Internazionali di Tennis Trofeo Faip-Perrel in Bergamo. The 21-year-old Italian fought past compatriot Stefano Napolitano 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final.
Berrettini fired 12 aces, winning 75 per cent of his first service points and 56 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 52 minutes.

“I started strong and I felt very good today,” said Berrettini. “He struggled to get into the match, but I think it was due to the fact that I put a lot of pressure on him. Also, he did not have a large percentage of first serves in. It can make the difference against me. I just told myself to be aggressive. I had positive feelings and a lot of energy and I had to wait for my time. Fortunately, it arrived.”
The youngest Italian in the top 200 takes away €9,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points, reaching a new career high World No. 104 on Monday.
