Laurynas Grigelis is the winner of the 14th edition of the $25,000 ATA Trentino, held on hard courts at the ATA Battisti Tennis Club in Trento. The No. 3 seed of Italy’s first ITF Pro Circuit event of the season defeated Maximilian Neuchrist from Austria in Sunday’s singles final 6-4, 6-4.
Grigelis struck nine aces, winning 65 per cent of his first service points. The 26-year-old from Lithuania broke his opponent’s serve two times to prevail after one hour and 18 minutes.
By lifting his first trophy of the season, Grigelis takes away 25 ATP Ranking points as well as $3,600 in prize money.
On Friday, Maximilian Neuchrist and Sadio Doumbia of France defeated Romain Barbosa from Belgium and Frenchman Remi Boutiller 7-5, 2-6, 10-6 to clinch the doubles crown. The encounter lasted 70 minutes.
