Marco Cecchinato is the champion of the $50,000 Cachantun Open held on the clay courts of the Club Deportivo Manquehue in Santiago de Chile. The No. 2 seed of Italy fought past Spanish qualifier Carlos Gomez-Herrera, who appeared in his maiden final on the ATP Challenger Tour, 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 on Saturday.
Cecchinato saved three of the five break points he faced, capitalizing on five of his own to secure victory in one hour and 25 minutes. By lifting his fifth ATP Challenger trophy, the 25-year-old from Sicily earned $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points.
Earlier in the day, Romain Arneodo of Monaco and Jonathan Eysseric from France defeated the all-Argentine-combination of Guido Andreozzi and Guillermo Duran 7-6, 1-6, 12-10 to clinch the doubles crowns. The final lasted one hour and 35 minutes.
